Focus and Scope

Parapolitika: Journal of Politics and Democracy Studies is the official journal published by the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta. This journal aims to publish high-quality research and popular scientific papers discussing political phenomena, contemporary governance, and socio-political thought. Publishing articles in this journal is part of contributing to the global and national development of political science.

To achieve this mission, the journal welcomes submissions that address a broad range of thematic areas, including but not limited to:

1. Governance, Democracy, & Public Management: Democratic transitions, institutional design, public administration, bureaucracy, and citizenship rights.
2.⁠ ⁠Elections, Parties, & Representation: Electoral systems, voting behavior, political party dynamics, and legislative representation.
3.⁠ ⁠Political Theory: Classical and contemporary political thought, normative theories, justice, ethics, and power dynamics.
4.⁠ ⁠Digital Politics & Communication: Cyber-politics, digital governance, algorithmic bias in politics, social media campaigns, propaganda, and public opinion.
5.⁠ ⁠Political Economy & Development: The state and the market, public policy, economic development, inequality, and globalization.
6.⁠ ⁠Civil Society & Social Movements: Activism, grassroots mobilization, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and collective action.
7.⁠ ⁠International Politics & Security: Foreign policy, geopolitics, international organizations, conflict resolution, peace studies, and traditional/non-traditional security threats.
