Ekonomi dan Bisnis is a peer-reviewed journal published twice a year. This statement briefly explains the ethical conduct of all parties involved in the act of offline/online publishing an article in the journal, including the authors, the editors, the peer reviewers, and the publisher (Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta). This statement is issued based on COPE’s Best Practices in Scholarly Publishing.
The publication of an article in the Ekonomi dan Bisnis represents a critical contribution to the development of a coherent and respected body of knowledge. It directly reflects the quality of the authors’ work as well as the support of their affiliated institutions. Peer-reviewed articles uphold and exemplify the scientific method. Therefore, it is essential to establish clear standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the publication process—namely, the authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and associated scholarly societies.
Authorship credit should be based on substantial contributions to one or more of the following:
The conception and design of the study; acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data;
Drafting the article or revising it critically for significant intellectual content;
Final approval of the version to be published.
All individuals designated as authors should meet these criteria, and all individuals who meet these criteria should be listed as authors.
The specific contributions of each author must be clearly described. The submitting author is responsible for providing this information at the time of submission. It is expected that all listed authors will have reviewed, discussed, and agreed upon their individual contributions in advance. These contributions will be published alongside the final article and must accurately reflect each author's role in the work.
This policy is in accordance with the authorship and contributorship principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
The editors of the Ekonomi dan Bisnis are responsible for determining which submitted manuscripts are suitable for publication. Their decisions should be guided primarily by the scholarly merit of the work and its significance to researchers and readers. Editorial decisions may also be influenced by the journal's established policies and must comply with applicable legal requirements, including those concerning libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors may consult with other members of the editorial board or with peer reviewers when making these decisions.
Fairness: An editor evaluates manuscripts solely on the basis of their intellectual content, without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political views.
Confidentiality: The editor and editorial staff must maintain confidentiality and must not disclose any information regarding a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, or the publisher, as appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Materials that have not been published, as disclosed in a submitted manuscript, cannot be used in the editor’s own research without obtaining the author’s explicit written permission.
Assisting in editorial decisions: The Ekonomi dan Bisnis employs a double-blind review process. Peer review aids the editor in making decisions regarding publication. The editor also collaborates with the author to enhance the overall quality of the manuscript.
Promptness: Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to assess the research presented in a manuscript should inform the editor and withdraw from the review process.
Confidentiality: All manuscripts submitted for review must be regarded as confidential documents.
Criteria for Objectivity: Reviews must be carried out impartially, and personal criticism of the author is unacceptable.
Citing Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published works that the authors have not cited.
Transparency and Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers should refrain from evaluating manuscripts if they have conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or other relationships.
Guidelines for Reporting: Authors must provide a truthful account of the work conducted.
Authenticity and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and properly cite sources.
Multiple Submissions and Redundant Publication: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal.
Proper Citation of Sources: Authors must acknowledge the work of others through accurate citations.
Authorship of the Paper: Only individuals who have made significant contributions should be listed as authors.
Conflict of Interest Disclosure: All authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
Critical Errors in Published Manuscripts: Authors must inform the journal editor of any significant errors discovered in their published work.
Research misconduct includes fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or plagiarism. If misconduct is suspected, the editors of the Ekonomi dan Bisnis will follow COPE’s best practices to investigate. Manuscripts found to contain misconduct will be rejected, and published articles may be retracted.
The process begins by evaluating the validity of the complaint and checking for conflicts of interest.
Authors will be asked to respond to allegations. If needed, further expert review may be conducted.
Institutions may be contacted to support a thorough investigation.
The journal may issue corrections, retractions, or other notices as necessary.
Ekonomi dan Bisnis recognizes the value of post-publication discussion to promote scholarly transparency. Constructive discussions may be published following editorial review, often with responses from the original authors.
Submission criteria and peer review processes for post-publication discussions are available on the journal’s website.
Papers published in the Ekonomi dan Bisnis may be retracted if:
There is clear evidence of unreliable findings due to misconduct or honest error;
The findings have been previously published elsewhere without proper referencing or justification;
The work constitutes plagiarism;
The research was conducted unethically.
The retraction process follows the Retraction Guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE): https://publicationethics.org/retraction-guidelines
