Abstrak

One of the psychological changes in the third trimester is anxiety because the delivery process is getting closer. Excessive anxiety in pregnancy can lead to abortion, premature birth, low birth weight, fetal defects, fetal growth retardation, and postpartum depression. Three out of five third trimester pregnant women who were encountered experienced anxiety approaching labor, namely with sleep disturbances. In third trimester pregnant women, anxiety is getting more serious and intense as the birth process approaches. Feelings of anxiety can cause tension in the mind, body, pelvic muscles and lower uterine segment muscles, this tension can later interfere with the delivery process. The aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of yoga on the anxiety of third trimester pregnant women facing labor. This research method uses a cross sectional design. The population and sample in this study were 40 third trimester pregnant women. Data collection used a questionnaire which was analyzed using the t test. The results of this study were that before participating in yoga it was found that around 68.8% did not experience anxiety, 25.0% experienced mild anxiety, while 7.0% moderate anxiety and 0% severe anxiety. After doing yoga in pregnant women, the respondents after doing yoga found that around 88% did not experience anxiety, 12% experienced mild anxiety, while 0% had moderate anxiety and severe anxiety. The conclusion is that there is a difference in anxiety between after participating in yoga and before participating in yoga and there is an effectiveness of yoga in reducing the anxiety of third-trimester pregnant women at the Matahari Pratama Clinic Deli Serdang.
