PLAGIARISM POLICY

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Keperawatan Widya Gantari Indonesia (JKWGI) will be screened for plagiarism using Turnitin plagiarism detection software. Jurnal Keperawatan Widya Gantari Indonesia (JKWGI) will immediately reject any manuscripts that contain elements of plagiarism or self-plagiarism.

Authors must ensure that their submitted work is entirely original. If the authors use the work and/or words of others, proper citation or acknowledgment must be provided. Starting from Edition No. 3 Volume 7, authors must ensure that the similarity index of their article, based on Turnitin results, is less than 25%.

Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else’s ideas or words as if they were one’s own, without permission, proper credit, acknowledgment, or due to failure in citing the sources correctly. Plagiarism can take many forms, ranging from literal copying to paraphrasing another person's work. To assess whether an author has committed plagiarism, the following situations are considered:

  • Literal copying occurs when an author copies text word-for-word from another work, either in full or in part, without permission, acknowledgment, or citing the original source. This practice can be identified by comparing the original source and the suspected manuscript.

  • Substantial copying refers to the reproduction of a significant portion of another author's work without permission, acknowledgment, or citation. The term "substantial" can be interpreted in terms of both quantity and quality, and is often used in the context of intellectual property rights. Quality refers to the relative importance of the copied section in relation to the entire work.

  • Paraphrasing involves rephrasing ideas, words, or phrases from a source into new sentences. This becomes unethical when the author fails to properly cite or acknowledge the original work or author. This form of plagiarism is more difficult to detect.
