Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism Policy
All submitted papers must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Any material taken verbatim from another source must be clearly distinguished from the author’s original text by (1) indentation, (2) the use of quotation marks, and (3) proper citation of the source. Text that exceeds fair use standards, defined here as more than two or three sentences, or the equivalent, and any graphic material reproduced from another source must have explicit permission from the copyright holder and, where feasible, from the original author(s). All such content must be properly cited, including reference to any prior publication.
If plagiarism is identified, the Editor-in-Chief overseeing the manuscript will take appropriate action according to the severity of the offense, following the guidelines below:
Levels of Plagiarism and Corresponding Actions
- Minor:
Definition: A small section of another article is plagiarized without any significant data or ideas being copied.
Action: A warning is issued to the authors, and they are asked to revise the manuscript and properly cite the original source. - Intermediate:
Definition: A substantial portion of the paper is plagiarized without appropriate citation to the original source.
Action: The manuscript is rejected, and the authors are barred from submitting new articles to the journal for one year. - Severe:
Definition: A large portion of the paper is plagiarized, including reproduction of original results or ideas from another publication.
Action: The manuscript is rejected, and the authors are prohibited from submitting to the journal for five years.
JHE upholds the highest standards of academic integrity. The editorial team reserves the right to withdraw acceptance of any paper found to violate the plagiarism policy outlined above.
