MEDIA KOMUNIKASI DIGITAL, EFEKTIF NAMUN TIDAK EFISIEN,STUDI MEDIA RICHNESS THEORY DALAM PEMBELAJARAN JARAK JAUH BERBASIS TEKNOLOGI DI MASA PANDEMI

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi komunikasi yang revolusioner menjadikan komputer, ponsel, dan tablet sebagai media dalam menjembatani interaksi antar manusia termasuk di bidang akademis. Pendidikan jarak jauh melalui media daring mengeliminasi jarak dan waktu dengan platform digital berbasis internet yang memungkinkan proses pembelajaran dilakukan tanpa adanya interaksi secara fisik. Kesiapan pengajar seperti bahan materi pengajaran yang tentunya tidak hanya memindahkan materi ke dalam presentasi serta pemanfaatan fitur yang terdapat di dalam platform yang digunakan dalam PJJ agar pesan berupa materi di dalam proses belajar mengajar tersampaikan dengan baik. Di sisi lain kesiapan peserta didik dalam kegiatan belajar di rumah memiliki kendala baik dari sisi teknis maupun non teknis. Karakteristik media yang digunakan dalam PJJ  akan dilihat melalui kacamata teori kekayaan media (Media Richness Theory) yang terus mengalami perkembangan seiring dengan berkembangnya teknologi, dimana semakin kaya karakteristik media yang efektif dalam menyampaikan pesan kompleks maka pemakaian data internet semakin tidak efisien. Disamping itu, kehadiran sosial (social presence) juga menjadi bagian penting dalam proses interaksi pembelajaran jarak jauh bagi siswa guna tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran yang dimediasi teknologi komunikasi.
