China’s Investment in the East Coast Railway Line (ECRL) Project in Malaysia as a Strategisation of Space

Abstrak

Kebangkitan kekuatan Tiongkok menuntut pemenuhan kebutuhan energi yang lebih besar dalam mendukung pembangunan industrinya yang masif. Namun, hambatan di Selat Melaka telah mendistraksi kepentingan Tiongkok untuk mendistribusikan minyak dari Timur Tengah. Oleh karena itu, Tiongkok berupaya memanfaatkan proyek BRI untuk mencapai kepentingan energinya. Artikel ini akan mengelaborasi kebijakan pembangunan proyek ECRL di Malaysia sebagai bagian dari proyek BRI untuk menjadi alternatif pemenuhan kebutuhan energinya. Penelitian kualitatif akan digunakan dengan menggunakan konsep power and connectivity. Pemanfaatan proyek ECRL sebagai strategi pemenuhan kebutuhan energi Tiongkok juga akan dijelaskan dalam artikel ini.
