Baseline Kecemasan Public Speaking Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi: Studi Survei PRPSA dan Implikasinya Terhadap Desain Pembelajaran

Abstract

Studi ini mengidentifikasi baseline kecemasan public speaking mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi semester pertama sebagai dasar untuk merancang desain pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan mahasiswa. Peneliti melakukan survei cross-sectional dengan menggunakan Personal Report of Public Speaking Anxiety (PRPSA) kepada 225 mahasiswa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 60 persen mahasiswa mengalami kecemasan sedang dan 12,9 persen mengalami kecemasan tinggi. Mahasiswa yang pernah belajar tentang Public Speaking pra-kuliah (38,7 persen) menunjukkan tingkat kecemasan yang signifikan lebih rendah (p=0,006) dibandingkan dengan yang tidak memiliki pengalaman tersebut. Namun, sebagian besar pengalaman mahasiswa belajar public speaking (83,9 persen) berasal dari seminar atau webinar yang sifatnya pasif daripada pelatihan yang berbasis praktik. Temuan ini mengindikasikan perlunya desain pembelajaran aktif dan sistematis yang menekankan pada praktik langsung dan umpan balik konstruktif. Untuk mendukung hal tersebut, suasana kelas perlu dibangun menjadi ruang kolaborasi yang aman secara psikologis sehingga dosen dan mahasiswa sama-sama bisa mengelola kecemasan dengan lebih optimal.
