PENGARUH STIMULASI ENGKLEK TERHADAP MOTORIK KASAR DAN EMOSIONAL ANAK PRASEKOLAH

Abstract

Gorontalo is facing a double burden of malnutrition, characterized by the coexistence of undernutrition and overnutrition. Amid increasing gadget use among children, traditional games can serve as an enjoyable alternative for developmental stimulation. Illustrated engklek, a traditional hopscotch game, not only provides a play experience but can also stimulate aspects of child development, particularly gross motor and emotional skills. This study aimed to analyze the effect of illustrated engklek stimulation on gross motor and emotional development among preschool children. A quasi-experimental design was used, involving 30 preschool children at TK ABA Gorontalo who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through structured observation using an assessment sheet based on the Standards for the Achievement of Child Development (STPPA). The assessment included four indicators for each domain of gross motor and emotional development, using a 1–4 Likert scale. The Wilcoxon test showed a significant effect of illustrated engklek play on gross motor and emotional development at a 95% confidence level. In conclusion, illustrated engklek play affects gross motor and emotional development in preschool children. Nurses can educate families about traditional games as developmental stimulation, while parents are encouraged to limit gadget use and promote active play, such as illustrated engklek.
