Abstract

Hyperuricemia is a condition characterized by elevated uric acid levels in the blood, which may lead to joint pain and impaired mobility. This condition is commonly observed among older adults and contributes to a decline in quality of life. Limited knowledge and suboptimal health management may further exacerbate the condition and increase the risk of complications. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of gerontological nursing care in reducing pain intensity and improving mobility among patients with hyperuricemia at the Elderly Clinic of Lepo-Lepo Health Center, Kendari City. This study employed a descriptive design using a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and document reviews. The findings demonstrated a reduction in pain intensity from 7/10 to 3/10 following nursing interventions. Additionally, there was an improvement in mobility, as indicated by the patient’s ability to ambulate independently, albeit with some limitations. Gerontological nursing care was effective in reducing pain and improving patient mobility. However, the intervention was not sufficient to fully resolve all clinical issues, particularly those related to peripheral perfusion, indicating the need for further comprehensive interventions.
