Peer Review Process

Each article submitted to the editorial staff will be selected through a Preliminary Review process by the Editorial Board. Then the article will be sent to the Bestari Partner / peer reviewer and will proceed to further selection through the Double Blind Peer Review Process. After that the article will be returned to the author for revision. This process takes a maximum of one month (four weeks). In each manuscript, Partner Bestari / peer reviewer will be assessed from a substantial and technical aspect. Bestari partners / peer reviewers who work closely with Expressions and Perceptions: Journal of Communication Studies are experts in the field of Communication Science and the issues around it. They are experienced in prestigious journals and publications in the country.

Publishing Frequency

The system that will be used in this journal is through a peer review process and the frequency of publication is 3 times a year, namely in January, May, September

Journal items may be published collectively, as part of a separate table of contents issue. Individual items can also be published after the article is ready, by adding the article to the current volume in the table of contents.

 


Open Access Policy

This journal provides open access which in principle makes research freely available to the public and will support the largest global exchange of knowledge.

Publication Ethics

Expression and Perception Publication Ethics: Journal of Communication Studies

This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing a manuscript in Expression and Perception : Journal of Communication Studies, which is managed by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UPN Veterans Jakarta which includes writers, editors, and reviewers.

This statement is based on COPE's Best Practice standard.

 


1. Ethics Guidelines for Journal Publication

It is very important to pay attention to the ethics of publishing a manuscript, this is also stated in Expression and Perception: Journal of Communication Sciences. Expression and Perception: Journal of Communication Sciences publishes manuscripts resulting from both theoretical and empirical studies from various authoritative sources that can be accounted for. This is important for the development of science to be implemented in the economic development of a country. Thus, a coherent and respected knowledge network needs to be carried out in the Journal publication Ethics Guidelines. This is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the supporting institutions. Manuscripts in Expression and Perception: Journal of Communication Studies are peer-reviewed to support and embody the scientific method. It is then important to agree on the expected standards of ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing, namely authors, journal editors, reviewers, publishers and the public.

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UPN Veteran Jakarta as the publisher of Expression and Perception: Journal of Communication Sciences takes its duties of guardianship beyond all stages of publication very seriously and we carry it out with ethics and other responsibilities. UPN Veteran Jakarta Faculty of Social and Political Sciences is committed to ensuring that broadcasting, reprinting or other commercial income has no impact or influence on decisions of an editorial nature.

2.      Publication Decisions

Before publishing both online and in print for Expression and Perception: Journal of Communication Sciences, the Chief Editor responsible for publication asked for input from other editors as well as support from reviewers. Where, this is also based on a series of journal publications starting from manuscript submission, editor checking, reviewer checking, layout checking, plagiarism and copyright checking. This is under the supervision of the Chief Editor and other Editors with authority, resulting in publication decisions for manuscripts in Expression and Perception: Journal of Communication Sciences.

3.      Non-Discrimination

In each publication process of Expression and Perception: Journal of Communication Sciences, editors and reviewers evaluate manuscripts for their scientific content without relating to the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy of the author. Reviewer Duties and Obligations

1.      Contribution to Editorial Decisions

If a reviewer does not carry out their duties on time, the editor takes the decision to replace another reviewer who is more qualified. Expression and Perception: Communication Science Journal is managed by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UPN Veteran Jakarta with the assistance of expert editors and reviewers. Every manuscript that is submitted is strictly protected by the editor, reviewer and publisher. Considering the blind-reviewer system, every manuscript submitted to reviewers can only discuss the contents of the manuscript with the editor and author.

4.      Objectivity Standards

For every manuscript submitted to Expression and Perception: Journal of Communication Sciences, the editors and reviewers are required to evaluate the manuscript based on established standards. However, review comments from editors and reviewers need to be respectful of the author. And reviewers are required to be consistent in their decisions and recommendations to editors and authors.

5.      Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers are required to pay attention to every source originating from all manuscripts submitted to Expression and Perception: Journal of Communication Sciences, where the manuscript is sent by the author through the editor. Each source needs to know its truth and up-to-dateness, and be acknowledged through a list of trusted references.

6.      Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Specific information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal gain. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts that have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with the authors, companies, or other institutions associated with the research.

 


Author's Duties and Obligations

1.      Reporting Standards

Authors are required to provide accurate data and informative information regarding the work submitted to Expression and Perception: Journal of Communication Sciences. The data presented contains reliable reference sources and is included in the manuscript. Fraud or intentionally inaccurate statements is unethical and unacceptable behavior.

2.      Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked questions regarding data and information in the manuscript, so they are required to provide data and information related to the manuscript on time to the editor and reviewer. This is to make it easier for the writer to improve the manuscript in accordance with the rules of Expression and Perception: Journal of Communication Sciences.

3.      Originality and Plagiarism

Authors should ensure that they have written completely original work, and if authors have used other people's work and/or words, they must be properly cited. If several problems are found related to citing and/or plagiarism in the author's work, the manuscript will automatically be rejected.

4.      Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication

When the author sends a manuscript for publication in Expression and Perception: Journal of Communication Sciences, the author is not permitted to send the manuscript to other publishers simultaneously. Simultaneous submission of authors is considered unethical and unacceptable.

5.      Acknowledgment of Sources

Every manuscript submitted by the author to Expressions and Perceptions: Journal of Communication Studies is required to provide acknowledgment of sources that are appropriate and able to add value to the manuscript, all such acknowledgments must be clearly stated on the list of references.

6.      Research Authorship

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the research reported in the manuscript submitted to Expression and Perception : Journal of Communication Studies. The authors listed in the manuscript have a responsibility to keep co-authors posted with the review process. If accepted, all authors are required to provide a signed statement that the research work is their original research work.

7.      Dangers and Human or Animal Subjects

If the work involves procedures or devices that have many unusual hazards inherent in the author's use, they must clearly identify these in the manuscript.

8.      Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscript all the things that support their research being completed. All supporting financial resources for research should be disclosed.

9. Fundamental Errors in Published Works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is the author's obligation to immediately notify the editor or publisher of the journal and work with the editor to withdraw or correct the research.
