RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MICRONUTRIENT CONSUMPTION PATTERNS AND SLEEP QUALITY AS RISK FACTORS FOR INSOMNIA

Insomnia is a sleep disorder characterized by difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep, which can negatively impact an individual's physical and mental health. Risk factors for insomnia among early adults include academic pressure, inadequate micronutrient consumption patterns, and poor sleep quality. This study aims to analyze the relationship between micronutrient consumption patterns and sleep quality with risk factors for insomnia among early adults in Bandung City. This research approach used a cross-sectional design with a simple random sampling technique. A total of 110 respondents have participated in this study have an average age of 20 years with 8.2% experiencing poor risk factors for insomnia events; 55.5% experienced moderate risk; 35.5% experienced mild risk and 0.9% experienced good risk. The results of the Spearman rank correlation test stated that sleep quality (p = 0.000; r = 0.362*) had an association with risk factors for insomnia in early adults in Bandung City in 2025. Meanwhile, micronutrient consumption patterns did not have an association with risk factors for insomnia among early adults in Bandung City in 2025 (p > 0.05). Early adult respondents, especially students, are expected to improve their consumption patterns and increase their intake of magnesium, zinc, calcium, vitamin C, vitamin D and vitamin B12.
