This research is motivated by the imbalance between the potential zakat from oil palm plantations in Padang Lawas Regency and the low realization of collection by zakat institutions. Low zakat literacy among farmers and limited institutional capacity mean that zakat has not played an optimal role in improving community welfare. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of zakat management for oil palm farmers, describe distribution patterns, and analyze the forms of mustahik empowerment implemented by zakat institutions. The method used is descriptive qualitative based on literature studies, with analysis by Miles & Huberman. The results show that management effectiveness is still at a moderate level, zakat distribution is dominated by consumptive assistance, and empowerment programs are not yet sustainable. In conclusion, the management of oil palm zakat needs to be strengthened by increasing muzakki literacy, digitalizing zakat institutions, and developing productive empowerment models to have a more significant impact on farmer welfare.
